Pathway to the Future

Education is the pathway to the future, this pathway means that without education there is nothing for people to acheive, remaining the status quo does not and should not represent where we want to head.

There is some debate in Australia before the election as to if and why this is important. It seems that some people think that an education that is not based on innovation and progress is not as important as filling a temporary trade and manual labour skills shortage brought on by a mining boom that is due to bust in the next few years.

The fact that this issue is being debated I suppose is a good thing - but begs the question what happens if the public is able to be conviced that education is not the future? it suggests that the future is to trust in political parties who can completely decide everything for them. I think that this would be good for sustaining a certain level of government however would not be good for a country.

I find it interesting that there seems to be a bigger question, about democracy itself - if one should have faith in the masses to make the best decision for themselves or if an elite educated few should be making all the decisions. This seems like "mother knows best" however would not be what the founding fathers wanted when they penned the constitution.
