Thankyou for all the feedback from my last post - Why You Should Want an A-List Blogger to Notice You - Many of the ideas I was sent are incorporated in this post, and others may be a separate venture I will start in the coming months.
As my previous post indicated blogging is something where the authors generally want to be noticed and build a community around their ideas. Gaining the exposure required to have people look at and continue subscribing to your site is something that is difficult. If your true aim for your site is recognition, not fleeting approval from things like the digg effect, then you can either fluke your way to success, rely on the advice on “how to blog” blogs or let someone who has successfully acheived yoru aims give you constructive criticism. There are no learners plates on blogs and nothing to tell people you want their advice and even getting noticed is hard.
The purpose of this post is to outline as many different ways possible to gain the attention of A-List Bloggers. The knowledge on this page comes from my own original ideas, things people have tried and advice gleaned from their sites themselves. I am going to attempt as many of these ideas as possible until I have acheived my own personal goals, or have been told to stop by enough people.
There are many methods that I would consider unethical to get the attention you want and have not listed these methods as I do not condone others doing them.
The following are my ideas, and the posts that inspired them (if they are not self explanatory enough)

21. Be the purple cow
The first thing Sean does is make the mistake most clueless newbies do, start a blog about money and tips for better blogging. It seems logical to start a blog about money if that’s what you’re after, but the problem here is your audience.
If your audience is contemplating making money, they’ll want to go to an authority, and if they do get as far as setting up some sort of monetization scheme, they’re much more intelligent then you give them credit for, and your blog won’t give them the 9 inch peter they moan for. (http://www.seedsforwealth.com/Blog/sean-the-blogger-a-top-a-list-blogger/2007/)
22. Take Advice From People Who Notice and Interact With Your Blog
I think that this goes without saying. If you are looking for someone to help you because you do not really know what you are doing, and then you do not listen to anyone then there is not much point in looking for any more help.
23. Give your Blog a Good, Catchy, Interesting Name
Make people want to read your blog, if all they see is a link to it (http://scobleizer.com/2006/02/14/tips-for-joining-the-a-list/)

27. Spend Most of Your Time Concentrating on your Blogging and less on Advertising
This has been written in many places, and is consistent with everything else, if you concentrate on improving your work, readers, and critically important bloggers will have more of an opportunity to appreciate and want to help you with your work.
28. Try to get fame for others, the more you give the more you get.
29. Work on Optimizing Your Blog for search engines
Many people will not be interested in blogs, they may be interested in finding an answer or opinion on a topic they are resesarching. Their first place is generally a search engine - if your posts appear high in the search results then one day an A-Lister may just find you.
30. Provide RSS feeds for your blog.
RSS feeds are picked up across the internet and published in more locations than just your blog, they also give people an avenue to see what you are doing; without visiting every day - increase your chances….
31. Pick up products and provide first hand user experience.
Write about things that people actually care about.
32. People do not talk about you if you are a part of the crowd. You need to be innovative and creative.
http://davidreport.com/blog/200703/stand-out-from-the-crowd/
33. Do not make your blog about making money online or how to blog, if you are already making serious money online then you probably do not need the help or advice from an a-list or celebrity blogger and this is a staturated niche. there are thousands of blogs on this topic, just becuause it may be your reason to blog does not mean it should be your subject.
34. Ask people to link to you
If people link to you then you have more of an opportunity to be found.
35. Write press releases
- http://www.101publicrelations.com/blog/our_favorite_
online_press_release_distribution_services_001830.html - http://www.secretsofpressreleases.com/
36. Take a journalism course
37. Meet with other bloggers in person, create a business card, spread the word and ask them if they have any contacts to share your blog with
If your aim is to meet bloggers then doing so in person may actually get you where you want to be, and an opportunity to sell yourself and your blog - which may be easier face to face (**Although if you do not live in San Fran then you may have less of a chance to meet an A-List blogger than those who do
**)
38. Try to send other people traffic - if you strongly encourage people to visit particular pages then when reveiwing the stats your A-List bloggers may just notice the traffic constantly coming from you
Do unto others as you wold have them do unto you.
39. Read what the A-Lister that you want to emulate is writing about, and write pieces that follows a similar (not identical) theme and then you will be part of their niche and they may organically find you
40. Create lists that rank different people on different areas, granting people authority in your mind , and back it

41. Make it easy in your blog design for people to link to your page and to share it.
Above I mentioned it is important to be shared, this just makes it more likley.
42. Turn of nofollow in your comments links, encouraging more people (and potentially more spam) to link to you and from your page
Again ; Do unto others as you wold have them do unto you.
43. Try to get dugg - take a silly photo, write a funny programmer joke, compare and contrast linux to windows, follow the themes and then maybe people will come back
One off traffic may bring people to your blog; if it is visually stunning or interesting enough they may return.
44. Attend as many major tech related functions as you can - this is hard if you are not in the USA but if you read the A-List material, often there will be many in the same location, and they have let you know they will be there beforehand.
Same principle as Meeting Bloggers in Person
45. Video Blog - respond to someone’s posts and do this while talking to your web cam, put it up on youtube and link to the response in your comments. there is something about people’s faces that make you more trustworthy and will invite people to read your content.
Same principle as the podcasting.
46. Work out where you need help and ask for it online, forums, posting sites can be a walth of knowledge and you may get the answers you were looking for from an A-List blogger or someone who knows what they are talking about
47. Spend 3-4 years blogging every day for 3-8 hours a day…..
and then tell me you didn’t make it to the A-list and people held you back… I *might* believe it after that. - http://www.calacanis.com/2007/03/19/more-proof-that-there-is-no-a-list-or-at-least-if-there-is-it/
48. Give out free things; even the rich and famous like free things
49. Getting linked to a popular blog can help, but ultimately it’s the quality and consistency of the blog that will sustain a readership,” said Paul Schindler, a former journalist now working as a substitute teacher in Orinda, Calif., who has been making weekly postings at his
50. Conduct interviews of famous bloggers and influential people; even if you try to contact 100 (not spam of course) and 1 accepts you may just get the attention of the writers that you crave.
If you write about people that are newsworthy the traffic may come to you. Interestingly enough if you are professional you may even be able to ask the person you are interviewing for mentoring and advice.

I’m glad that most of the people here are really clever, and are fun to talk, because we have a lot in common. Here I can express myself, share different information, have gun, enjoy communication. Some people here are angry, but why, guys? Make friends, be nice, share what you think, and you won’t feel lonely anymore!
